This dialog is used to define the address of the field device, as well as other device-specific configuration items.
This address is used in two distinct manners:
It is used to map a DeltaV serial device to an IP address in the VIM, and
It is used to address field devices when a protocol converter is used. A protocol converter could be a Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU Serial bridge.
Device addresses must be unique on the selected DeltaV IO Card Port. The device address can be any integer between 1 and 255.
This is an optional string to aid in identifying a device in the VIM configuration. This string can be 32 characters long.
This is the IP address of the field device, or the bridge through which the VIM must use to reach the target field device. The list will contain all IP addresses in the VIO configuration file for the parent VIM Placeholder. The address that will be used is the one that is selected when the button is clicked.
To add a new device, click the Modbus TCP Field Device IP Address for more information.button. To edit the selected IP address, click the button. See
If the Serial Gateway Device feature is used, this selects the session used for this serial field device. Multiple serial field devices can use the same session. If Serial Gateway Device is not used, this parameter is hidden.
If the Serial Gateway Device feature is used, this selects the destination TCP port for the session. The port number must be the same for all serial field devices using the same session. If Serial Gateway Device is not used, then this parameter is hidden.
This uses a Custom Modbus Mapping File (.cmm) to alter the connection between Modbus register to DeltaV dataset register. This is convenient for devices that have register layouts inconvenient for defining DeltaV datasets.
